About Farkle

Farkle is a push-your-luck dice game played with six dice. You roll, set aside at least one scoring die, and then decide: bank the points you have built up this turn, or roll the remaining dice for more. Roll nothing that scores and you have farkled, losing everything from that turn. The game goes by plenty of other names, including Zilch, Ten Thousand, Hot Dice and Greed.

This version is a solo game in your browser: no opponent and no turn limit, just you and the dice racing to 10,000 banked points. That makes it a good way to learn the scoring and get a feel for when to stop. Press Roll dice, tap the scoring dice you want to set aside, then roll the rest or bank. Your total and your turn score are shown at the top.

The scoring follows common Farkle rules. A single 1 is worth 100 and a single 5 is worth 50. Three of a kind scores 100 times the face value, except three 1s, which score 1,000. Four, five and six of a kind are worth two, three and four times that. A 1-6 straight or three pairs scores 1,500, and two triplets score 2,500.

Also known as Zilch, 10,000, Ten Thousand, Hot Dice, Greed, Zonk.

Questions

Is Farkle the same as Zilch or 10,000?
Yes, they are the same core game under different names. Scoring tables vary a little from group to group; the table used here is shown on the page.
What is a Farkle?
A roll with no scoring dice: no 1s, no 5s and no combination. When that happens you lose all the points you built up that turn.
How much is three of a kind worth in Farkle?
Three 1s score 1,000. Any other three of a kind scores 100 times the number, so three 2s are 200 and three 6s are 600.
What are hot dice?
If every one of your six dice has scored during a turn, you get all six back and can roll them again while keeping your turn score.
Is there a minimum score to get on the board?
No. You can bank any amount of points, which makes this version a good place to practice judging when to stop.
