Controls

Move a card
Tap a card and it goes to the best place it can: a foundation if it fits there, otherwise a column. Tap a card in a column to move it together with the cards on top of it.
Choose the spot
Drag a card with the mouse, or press and hold it (right-click works too), then tap the column or foundation it should go to. Tap it again to put it back.
Stock
Tap the stock to turn one or three cards. When it runs out, tap the empty space to turn the waste back over. You can go through it as often as you like.
Columns
Build down in alternating colors. Only a king, or a run that starts with a king, can fill an empty column.
Foundations
Build each one up in its own suit, from ace to king. Tap a foundation card to take it back to a column.
Undo and finish
Undo takes back your last move (Ctrl+Z on a keyboard). Once the stock is used up and every card is face up, Finish plays the rest out for you.
Score
10 points for a card to a foundation, 5 for a waste card to a column, 5 for turning a card over. Taking a card off a foundation costs 15, turning the waste over costs 100 in Draw one and 20 in Draw three.

About Solitaire

Klondike is the game most people mean when they say solitaire, and in the UK it is usually called Patience. You deal 28 cards into seven tableau columns with only the top card of each turned up, and keep the rest as a stock pile. The goal is to move all 52 cards onto four foundation piles, one for each suit, building every pile from Ace up to King.

This version runs in your browser with nothing to install and no account. Before each game you choose Draw 1, which turns one card at a time from the stock and is the more relaxed option, or Draw 3, which turns three and lets you play only the top one, as in the classic rules. Drag cards between columns, or click a card to move it straight to a foundation or a column where it fits.

A score, a move counter and a timer run along the top, so you can try to beat your own best game. Klondike rewards planning more than speed: turn over face-down cards as early as you can, don't empty a column unless you have a King ready to fill it, and think twice before moving low cards to the foundations if you may still need them in the tableau.

Also known as Klondike, Patience, Klondike Patience, Classic Solitaire.

Questions

Is Klondike the same as Solitaire?
Solitaire covers hundreds of one-player card games, but Klondike is the one most people mean by the word. In the UK the same game is usually called Patience.
What's the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?
Draw 1 turns one card at a time from the stock, so every card is within reach. Draw 3 turns three cards and only the top one can be played, which makes the game harder. You pick the mode before each game.
How many times can I go through the deck?
As many times as you like. When the stock is empty, click it to turn the waste pile over and start through it again.
Is every game of Klondike winnable?
No. Some deals cannot be solved however well you play, and Draw 3 games come out less often than Draw 1. If you are stuck with no useful moves, start a new deal.
Do I need to download anything or sign up?
No. Solitaire runs directly in your browser, free, with no download and no account.
